The Urology Group Named Finalist for 2015 Healthiest Employers of Greater Cincinnati
CINCINNATI (May 12, 2015) – The Cincinnati Business Courier recognized The Urology Group as a finalist in the 2015 Healthiest Employers of Greater Cincinnati Awards, joining 29 other leading organizations in five categories from the greater Cincinnati region.
The Healthiest Employers program spotlights companies that have made a commitment to making wellness a reality for their employees. The awards are based on a detailed application that includes a description of the wellness program and its components, tangible outcomes or results and unique or distinctive aspects of the program.
The Urology Group’s HumanaVitality program rewards employees for monitoring their health and taking steps for improvement in a strategic, programmatic way. Using various incentives and motivational events, The Urology Group enrolled more than 85% of its insured employees in the program.
Each of The Urology Group’s offices is non-smoking and the company’s headquarters building features an exercise room, available at no cost to our employees. The company sponsors health fairs to promote health and well being and offers complimentary flu shots to employees.
To garner enthusiasm for the wellness program, The Urology Group held an internal ‘Name the Culture’ contest in which employees submitted and voted on prospective titles for the newly established wellness culture. L.I.F.E., an acronym for Lifestyle Improvements For Employees, became the internal trademark for good health in employee communications.
“As a company in the healthcare business, we recognize the value of a wellness program,” said Dr. Gary Kirsh, president of The Urology Group. “A preventive approach is likely to produce the best result for our patients, and the same logic applies to our employees. A healthier employee means lower healthcare costs and fewer missed days of work – but also happier individuals.”
