The Urology Group Hosts Cincinnati’s Premier Event Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor
More than 75 WWII veterans expected to attend Dec. 7 program and share stories with local youth
CINCINNATI (Nov. 30, 2016) As honored guests of The Urology Group, Cincinnati-area World War II veterans will gather on the historic 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor to share their stories with high schoolers and commemorate the day that President Franklin Roosevelt said will “live in infamy.”
Tristate WWII veterans who are patients of The Urology Group, and their guests, have been invited to attend a Dec. 7 luncheon and patriotic program at the Sharonville Convention Center. More than 75 WWII veterans have accepted invitations, making the event what is believed to be the largest ceremony of its kind in the Cincinnati area.
In addition to the program, the veterans will have the opportunity to share their stories with some Princeton High School students, who will create a living-history project designed to collect and disseminate the personal accounts of the World War II generation.
Guest speakers will include Robert E. Miller, a University of Cincinnati professor who authored two books on the wartime experience through the prism of Cincinnati history, and George Foster, former Big Red Machine star outfielder and Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame member.
“The Urology Group is grateful to have the opportunity to show our respect and pay tribute to our many patients who are members of this age group – the Greatest Generation – and who served the country during World War II,” Dr. Gary Kirsh, president of The Urology Group, said. “It is our hope that by bringing together the men and women who answered the call of duty more than seven decades ago with the youth of our community, we can both honor the past and inspire the future.”
Media are invited to attend the program and interview the veterans in attendance.
