Two urologists from Australia recently visited The Urology Group to learn more about the use of Botox for urinary incontinence.
Dr. Johan Gani and Dr. Dominic Lee were in the U.S. to attend the annual American Urological Association conference and spent a day at our Norwood Campus before returning home.
Though the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Botox to treat incontinence in 2011, the concept is new for Australia. Drs. Gani and Lee met with our physicians and staff to learn best practices, then observed as we prepped and performed the procedure.
Botox treatment involves injection of the drug into the bladder, which relaxes it and gives patients more muscle control and less incontinence.
As a leading provider of urological services, we were proud to host our colleagues from “Down Under†and share knowledge and insights that will help improve the quality of life for their patients.
