Accreditation Reflects Highest Quality Laboratory Services

By: Cynthia Westermann

We’re proud to announce that The Urology Group’s lab has been accredited once again by the College of American Pathologists (CAP).

CAP sent an unannounced inspection team to our lab on Friday, Feb. 7, and we passed with flying colors. Accreditation requires random inspections at least every two years with hundreds of items to check across all disciplines. Our lab has been accredited since 2004, shortly after it opened.

The CAP accreditation program has a primary objective of ensuring the quality of clinical laboratory services. Mandatory elements include a quality management program, safety plan, document control plan, competency assessment program, director oversight documentation, and specific requirements for a lab information system.

At The Urology Group, our fully staffed lab is equipped with state-of-the-art analytic equipment to provide fast, accurate results. For our patients and their families, that means less time spent anxiously waiting for news. For our physicians and staff, it means getting test results quicker so they can evaluate treatment options and the best course of action with patients.

By achieving the highest standards in the industry, our lab helps validate the confidence and trust that The Urology Group has established in the community and proves our group to be an industry leader that is committed to quality patient care.
